Backwood Thank you

It has been a particularly crazy week here. After visiting the doctor Tuesday for my back, the prescriptions ended up making me sick and in pain UGH! Wednesday, my little one had a scout meeting and somehow I volunteered to make some thank you cards from the Scouts that they need to have by Monday night. I knew I wanted to use SU’s Backwoods, but wasn’t real sure what I wanted to do with it.

Wednesday night I looked at the set, looked at CS and DP and picked Kraft, but nothing else. I was pretty intent on using the Cabin from that set and looked through some sketches from SCS and finally got some inspiration from SCS sketch challenge SC215. After looking through pounds and pounds of DP, I finally decided to use my Making Memories Travel DP that I picked up at Big Lots for $2.00 for a 6 x 6 pad. Then I went to bed.

Thursday morning my dad passed away, and the entire day was spent with family and dealing with all of the details. I got home about 7 p.m. and was simply exhausted, but knew I needed to finish these Thank You cards. My dad was a huge fan of my cards and as I sat here looking at the DP, CS and stamp set, I felt him guide me to use the deer instead of the cabin and this card came together in a matter of minutes. I made the cards I needed for Scouts, got a chance to unwind a little and actually got some sleep.

I accepted long ago that making cards and creating is my addiction and my escape, but I have never before felt the peace and calmness that I did when I made these particular cards. I really love this layout and will be using it in the future.

I used VersaMagic Sahara sand ink on Kraft paper for my image and sentiment. My sentiment is NOT from SU, but I’m not sure who made it. I got this stamp in a dollar bin somewhere. It’s wood mounted and one of my favorite, go to Thank you stamps.

Happy Stampin'!
